The choice of polymer floor

Выбор полимерного пола

When installing a floor covering made of polymeric materials, the thickness of the applied base should be from 0.5 to 12 mm, depending on the specific purpose of the room being repaired. High-quality polymer polymer self-leveling floors must have the following characteristics:

- a high level of heat resistance (a coating with a thickness of 12 mm can withstand temperatures up to 120 ° C);

- excellent moisture resistance;

- high plasticity and resistance to mechanical damage;

- complete absence of a specific smell;

- manufacturability (not demanding on the humidity of the application plane);

- dust resistance;

- be made of flame retardant components;

- have neutral characteristics in relation to chemically aggressive environments;

- visual appeal (high-quality flooring compounds always have a wide choice of color shades).

When choosing a self-leveling polymer coating, you should pay attention to the specific specifics of the building where the coating will be made. Completely universal floors of this type do not exist, and it is necessary to make a selection based on the individual characteristics of the work processes that will be carried out in the room. When buying a floor, it is necessary to take into account certain types of loads that will be applied to the future coating - mechanical, chemical, physical.

For example, for enterprises engaged in the production of meat and dairy products, a floor of increased thickness is required, since the constant presence of moisture, blood, serum can lead to its destruction. For facilities where frequent transportation of heavy objects along the same path is carried out, a reinforced polymer floor construction is also recommended.

It is also impossible to obtain a floor covering with anti-slip properties along with high detergent performance. Since only a rough surface is capable of resisting slipping, special equipment is required for high-quality washing.

There are special recommendations for the correct choice of polymer coating, which were developed by CJSC SPETSORGSTROY together with RUE Institute BelNIIS - Recommendations for the design and installation of polymer floors coated with polymer-mineral compositions Espol and Cemezit (Р5.09.134-2014).
