A very common type of storage devices are stationary shelving racks , with which you can significantly expand the useful area for storing various inventory .
For example, you have purchased a ready-made set of shelving shelves with the following dimensions: structure height - 1.7 meters, shelf base width - 1 meter.
As a rule, the number of various spare parts in the garage is quite large, so there are usually not enough shelves with a width of 1 meter. To cope with this problem, you should modify the product purchased in the store. To do this, you will need the material itself for the manufacture of shelves, as well as pieces of a metal corner 30x30 mm with a length of workpieces corresponding to the size of the rack.
The five shelves included in the kit must be cut across into 2 equal parts, then you can start assembling the racks. Considering that the shelves will increase in the end, the load on the fastening system will also increase. Therefore, it is worth duplicating the factory-designed bolted connections. Additional mounting holes are drilled below the existing mountings.
Shelves, sawn earlier, are placed on the obtained supports across the rack, and are attached to the corners with bolted connections.
The disadvantage of this design is the complexity of its dismantling and transfer to another place. But it can withstand quite large loads.
The shelving structure can also be strengthened by welding the entire shelves from the rolled steel angle. But you will have to do this in the garage, which is quite inconvenient.
