The competition was held in the city of Metallurgov – at the Certification Center for welders and gas cutters of the Domnaremont Center.
Alexander Kostyuk, Chief Welder at Ventall Steel Solutions, one of the organizers:
"We believe that a team event for employees from four different cities will have a positive impact on the overall level of welding skills in our group of companies, will allow colleagues to get to know each other and establish professional contacts. At the same time, of course, representatives of all our sites were very worried about their guys, about the image of each enterprise, and the contestants themselves were a little nervous, which sometimes affected the quality of work. We would also like to thank the staff of the Domnaremont Center for providing such a wonderful site."
The participants had to demonstrate theoretical knowledge in terms of technological processes and labor protection rules necessary for safe work. The next stage is a practical task: to weld samples in different spatial positions using semi–automatic welding. Then the experts assessed the quality of the seams for compliance with the requirements of GOST using visual and ultrasonic inspection.

"Cherepovets greeted us with good weather, which immediately set me and the guys on a positive wave. I didn't prepare for the competition on purpose. I was going, first of all, to communicate with colleagues in the welding craft, to test my strength. My work is in great demand in our company, and this is the most important thing for me."

"Before, I participated in professional skills competitions only in Orel, competed with my colleagues who are well acquainted, so the trip to Cherepovets certainly charged with vivid emotions and adrenaline. At the same time, he tried to approach tasks with a cool head. I am very glad that I took the 2nd place in the end. In our free time, we took a short walk around the city, visited the fountain at the Metallurgists' Palace, Victory Park and other iconic places."
