The situation is clearly characterized by a survey conducted by EVRAZ STEEL experts among three dozen metal structures plants participating in the ecosystem. Large factories that are working on large projects are currently most heavily loaded. Medium and small enterprises are experiencing increasing difficulties with loading.
The decrease was also noted in the CIS countries, where there are no problems with expensive bank financing. There is increasing competition between local factories and Chinese suppliers, who enter the market of these countries not only with rolled metal, but also with large volumes of metal structures at low prices.
Dmitry Yeremeev, Director of Market Demand Development at EVRAZ:
"The steel construction industry is currently experiencing a reduction in orders. Indirectly, this is evidenced by the increase in the stock of rolled metal products observed during the second quarter: metallurgical enterprises are not yet ready to sharply reduce the output of metal products, despite cooling demand. I believe that the market has not yet reached the bottom, after which we can expect growth. Our industry significantly depends on the degree of government support for investment activity in industry, and if this support increases or the cost of debt financing decreases, then we should expect a change in trends."
