According to the Brazilian Association of Vehicle Manufacturers (ANFAVEA), car production in Brazil rose to 204,300 units (passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks and buses) in February, up 25 percent from the 163,600 units registered in January 2026.
Domestic car sales increased by 8.6 percent to 185,200 units, while exports increased by a substantial 29.6 percent to 33,500 units. Compared to February 2025, production decreased by 8.2 percent in February 2026, while domestic sales increased slightly by 0.1 percent and exports fell by 34 percent.
Igor Kalvet, President of ANFAVEA, noted that February was the second largest average daily volume of domestic sales in the last decade, although exports were negatively affected by a 7.5 percent decline in sales to Argentina from January to 2026. February.
Calvet also said that sales of buses and trucks increased by 4.5 percent in February compared to January and are expected to grow further in the coming months, helped by the fleet renewal program established by BNDES, the national Bank for Development and Social Security, which promotes sales of heavy vehicles. To date, loans equivalent to 770 million US dollars have been approved under the program for the renovation of fleets of trucks and buses.
