Austrian steelmaker Voestalpine AG announced that its Railway Systems division has received orders totaling €500 million from German state railway company Deutsche Bahn (DB) and its Swiss counterpart Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). According to the company, the contracts include the supply of rails, turnouts, signaling technologies and monitoring applications, covering a wide range of rail infrastructure solutions.
Voestalpine stressed that these orders underline its position as a global supplier of advanced rail infrastructure systems and reflect the continued demand for integrated and digital rail solutions across Europe.
Voestalpine CEO Herbert Eibensteiner said that The agreements expand the company's long-standing partnerships with DB and SBB, and contribute to the modernization and digital transformation of European rail infrastructure. He added that the rail systems segment continues to show growth potential despite challenging economic conditions.
Deutsche Bahn accelerates infrastructure investments
Deutsche Bahn plans to invest more than €23 billion in 2026 to modernize its national rail network. As part of this project, Voestalpine Railway Systems will supply premium rails and turnouts for several major projects. These include the reconstruction of Frankfurt main station and the modernization of high-performance routes such as Hamburg-Berlin
