According to Australian iron ore producer Fenix Resources Ltd, its iron ore supply is facing potential disruptions due to Tropical Cyclone Narelle and diesel fuel supply restrictions, although the company has confirmed that its production and sales guidance for the 2025-26 fiscal year remains unchanged.
Phoenix said it is closely monitoring the development of tropical cyclone Narelle, which is rapidly intensifying off the northwestern coast of Western Australia. In response, the Midwest Port Authority activated cyclone response procedures at the Port of Geraldton, which led to the temporary suspension of all shipping operations. The ports of Dampier and Ashburton in the Pilbara have also been decommissioned, as previously reported by SteelOrbis. This development is expected to have a direct impact on Fenix's export logistics.
The manufacturer stated that security measures are being implemented at all production sites, emphasizing that the well-being of employees, contractors and their families remains the company's top priority.
Fuel supply restrictions increase pressure
In addition to the weather-related risks, Fenix highlighted that ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have tightened the availability of diesel fuel in the region. According to the company, these restrictions are beginning to affect mining across the entire sector, including its own operations.
As a result, Fenix expects failures.
