India will engage with Argentina, Indonesia and Oman next month to seek supplies of steel raw materials such as coking coal, iron ore and other key minerals, SteelOrbis reported from local media and industry reports on Friday, March 27.
Discussions with key officials from these three countries are expected to take place during a steel industry summit scheduled next month in India. which the government billed as the country's "largest international steel conference," the sources said.
They said Indonesia, which has the world's largest nickel ore reserves, is a key supplier of ferronickel, used in stainless steel production. Oman and Brazil are India's main sources of iron ore.
In talks with Argentina, India is seeking to secure lithium and other critical minerals for state-owned iron ore miner NMDC limited, the sources added.
