Swiss steel company Swiss Steel Group has announced the supply of 2,500 tonnes of corrosion-resistant reinforcement for the reconstruction of the Heligoland West Pier, a key coastal defense project.
Approximately 2,500 tonnes of Top12 reinforcing steel from the Swiss Steel Group is being used in the reconstruction of the western wall of the Heligoland South Harbor.
563-meter Western The pier serves as a protective structure for the harbor, which is considered critical infrastructure for the island located in the German Bight.
Corrosion-resistant steel designed for marine environments
Top12 reinforcing steel has been specifically developed for use in environments exposed to high levels of chlorides.
The material provides significantly higher resistance resistance to chloride corrosion compared to conventional reinforcing steel, making it suitable for:
- splash zones
- Tidal zones
- Marine infrastructure
This durability is essential for coastal defense structures exposed to harsh sea conditions conditions.
Production is supported by the operations of the entire group
Top12 production includes several sites in the Swiss Steel Group network. The billets are melted at Deutsche Edelstahlwerke in Siegen, hot rolled at Steeltec in Switzerland and processed at the Hagen plant, where the material is pickled and rolled to roll.
