The issue of selling the company has been under consideration at least since the beginning of this year. In January, the then CEO of Rustavi Steel, Igor Korytko, announced that the company planned to sell its rebar business due to strong competition in the domestic rebar market in Georgia and significant import volumes. He briefly stated that Rustavi Steel would instead pay more attention to sales of seamless steel труб.
The rebar business accounts for a significant portion of Rustavi Steel's sales. In 2024, the company's total revenue amounted to GEL 285 million, of which GEL 200 million accounted for the rebar segment. Sales of seamless pipes brought in another 74 million lari, while other activities brought in about 10 million lari.
