Prices for products manufactured in Canada, as measured by the Industrial Product Price Index (IPPI), rose 2.4 percent month-on-month in March and increased 7.8 percent year-over-year, according to Statistics Canada. Prices for raw materials purchased by manufacturers operating in Canada, as measured by the Raw Materials Price Index (RMPI), rose 12.0 percent from February to March and increased 23.6 percent year over year in March.
The IPPI rose 2.4 percent month over month in March after increasing 0.6 percent in the previous month.
IPPI rose 7.8 percent year on year in March. March 2026, the 18th consecutive month the index increased year-on-year.
In March, RMPI increased by 12.0 percent compared to the previous month, mainly due to rising raw energy prices (+41.1 percent). Excluding raw energy, RMPI fell 0.2 percent.
