According to the China Association of National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI), from January to March this year, China's total shipbuilding output was 15.68 million dead weight tons (DWT), up 46.0 percent from the previous year. During the period, orders for new ships in China reached 59.53 million tons, an increase of 195.2 percent year on year. Meanwhile, as of the end of March this year, orders for ships on the balance sheet of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises amounted to 322.3 million tons, which is 43.6% more than last year.
In the first three months of this year, export orders accounted for 96.1% of total shipbuilding output in China, and the export value reached $14.92 billion, indicating that the growth was mainly driven by the delivery of international orders.
