According to customs statistics published by the Japanese Federation of Ferrous Metallurgy (JISF), in April of this year, exports of iron and steel products from Japan amounted to 2.28 million metric tons, down 9.4 percent month-on-month and 6.7 percent year-on-year.
In the period from January to April of this year, exports of Japanese iron and steel products totaled 9.27 million tons, a decrease of 9.3 percent. compared to the same period of the previous year.
As for the main export markets of ferrous metallurgy products in Japan, in January-April of this year, exports of iron and steel from the country to Thailand amounted to 1,357,902 metric tons, which is 0.2 percent, while exports to South Korea decreased by 1.6 percent to 1,302,002 metric tons. Exports to China totaled 702,789 metric tons, down 8.3 percent, exports to Taiwan totaled 426,394 metric tons, down 41.0 percent, and exports to the United States totaled 412,824 metric tons, up 20.0 percent from the same period last year.
