In the period from January to April, scrap imports to Turkey totaled 6.59 million tons, an increase of 0.4 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 1.5 percent to $2.51 billion year-on-year.
Scrap imports to Turkey - last 12 months
In January-April 2025, the largest sources of scrap imports to Turkey were mainly the Netherlands, the United States, Great Britain, Belgium and Denmark, while over the same period in 2026, the rating shifted in favor of the United States. Imports from the United States increased 34 percent year-on-year to 1.41 million tons, making it the largest supplier, while imports from the Netherlands, the main source last year, fell 26.6 percent to 861,246 tons. The UK retained third place with an increase of 4.4 percent, while the increase in imports from Romania by 65.6 percent to 527,788 tons was noticeable. On the contrary, a decrease in imports from Belgium and Germany by 28.1 percent and 24.4 percent, respectively, limited overall growth.
