Chile's central bank reported that the country's economy contracted 1.2 percent in April 2026 compared with April 2025, as measured by the IMACEC index, Chile's key economic indicator.
Goods production fell 5.4 percent, mining activity fell 11.8 percent, manufacturing fell 0.4 percent, trade activity rose 2.1 percent, and services grew 2.1 percent.
On a monthly basis, the IMACEC index increased 0.1 percent in April compared with March.
During the period, goods production grew 1.2 percent, mining grew 0.8 percent, manufacturing grew 2.3 percent, trade fell 1 percent, and the services sector fell 0.2 percent.
The monthly IMACEC Economic Activity Index provides an indicator of changes in Chile's gross domestic product (GDP). It is made on the first working day of the month with a delay of about 31 days.
