The project, which includes two slab rollers, a hot strip mill, advanced automation systems and digitization solutions, will enable Hoa Phat to enter high-quality steel product segments and meet Vietnam's rapidly growing steel demand. The new line will increase the company's annual production capacity by 5.5 million tons.
The double-chain rollers supplied by Primetals have a nominal capacity of six million tons per year and can produce 230 mm thick plates with widths from 900 mm to 1650 mm. On the other hand, the hot strip machine with an annual capacity of 5.5 million tons is designed for the production of rolls weighing up to 36 tons, with a thickness from 1.2 mm to 25.4 mm and a width of 900-1650 mm.
Hoa Phat stated that it chose Primetals solutions for continuous casting. and hot rolling as part of its strategy to enter higher-quality segments of the steel market and supply a wider range of products. According to Hoa Fat, even before the completion of the Dung Quat 2 project, the company's slabs and hot-rolled products had already received positive customer feedback, which highlighted the quality of the new facilities.
