The company produces approximately 1.5 million tons a year of ore with an average iron content of 65 percent, which has so far been shipped through the port of Pecsem, located in the neighboring state of Ceará, after a 150-kilometer journey by truck.
Despite the small volume compared with by larger miners, lion Mining's ore is highly prized due to its high lump content.
The 110,000 tonne cargo will be transported by barges and loaded onto seagoing vessels.
