Brazil's central foreign trade system, Siscomex, reported that average freight rates for the country's imports of finished steel rose in May.
The average freight rate for Brazilian steel imports was $60/t in May, up from $58/t in April, Siscomex said.
Brazil's May imports of finished steel products from China by volume were 41 percent of the total, up from 45 percent in May, the decline reflects the impact of anti-dumping duties on imports of CRC and coated sheets imposed by Brazilian authorities in February.
For HRC, it was $31 per metric ton (MT) for Egypt, $43 per ton for South Korea, $58 per ton for China, and $36 per ton for Austria.
For CRC, it was $51 per ton for South Korea Korea, and US$61/t for China.
For coated flat products, it was US$67/t for China, US$78/t for Vietnam, US$96/t for South Korea, US$101/t for Japan, US$64/t for India, US$66/t for Germany, US$63/t for Peru and US$40/t for Turkey.
For wire rod it was $37/t for Egypt, $62/t for Russia, $44/t for China and $23/t for Germany.
For rebar it was $39/t for Egypt, $75/t for Russia, $73/t for China and $102/t for South Korea.
For strip products $55/t from Spain, $36/t for Turkey, $96/t for China and $110/t for Taiwan.
For beams: $54/t for China, $28/t for Turkey, $62/t for Belgium and $75/t for Hong Kong.
For steel wire: $85/t for China, $21/t for Egypt, $30/t for Turkey, $166/t for South Korea and $104/t for Austria
