According to the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA), Vietnam's finished steel production was 3.24 million tons in May this year, up 15.6 percent year-on-year, while the country's steel product sales in the same month increased 5.4 percent year-on-year to 3.04 million tons.
Between January and May, Vietnam's steel production increased by 14.5 percent year-on-year to 14.91 million tons, while domestic steel sales rose 12.9 percent year-on-year to 14.93 million tons, indicating continued improvement in market demand despite challenges posed by the international trade environment.
Meanwhile, Vietnam's finished steel exports increased eight percent year-on-year in January-May up to 2.26 million tons.
The forecast for the second half of 2026 remains positive. Accelerated disbursement of government investments, gradual recovery of the real estate market and stable demand from the manufacturing sector are expected to continue to support the growth of the steel industry.
