According to Statistics Canada, prices for products manufactured in Canada, according to the Industrial Product Price Index (IPPI), rose 1.2 percent month-on-month in May and increased 13.6 percent year-on-year. The prices of raw materials purchased by producers operating in Canada, according to the Commodity Price Index (RMPI), rose 0.7 percent from April to May and rose 33.4 percent year-on-year in May.
The IPPI index rose 1.2 percent month-on-month in May, marking the fifth consecutive monthly increase.
In May 2026, the IPPI index grew by 13.6 percent year-on-year, the index is growing for the 20th consecutive month year-on-year.
In May, RMPI increased by 0.7 percent month-on-month, mainly due to higher prices for crop products (+2.2 percent) and metal ores, concentrates and scrap (+0.5 percent). Excluding crude energy, RMPI increased by 1.4 percent.
RMPI increased by 33.4 percent year-on-year in May. Excluding crude energy, RMPI showed an increase of 22.9 percent year-on-year in May.
