Acero Argentino (AA), Argentina's steel chamber, reported that the country's steel production reached 399,400 metric tons (mt) in May, up from 387,400 mt in April.
In a similar comparative analysis, HRC production rose 48.5 percent to 192,000 mt, CRC production increased 8.5 percent to 102 500 tonnes, and long steel production rose 6.1 percent to 133,800 tonnes.
Compared to May 2025, data shows steel production rose 14 percent, HRC production rose 4.7 percent, CRC production fell 9.8 percent, and long steel production fell 9.8 percent.
In its statement, the AA said sector dynamics, steel consumption remains patchy, with energy and agriculture still the main drivers of effective steel demand, while the rest of the sectors are more modest, with civil engineering focused on private low-intensity steel work, while the automotive industry, despite increasing sales, is experiencing the impact of imports on domestic production. municipal, provincial and federal levels play a negative role in the aggregation of local value
