The company emphasizes an integrated supply chain
According to the company's data, 140 ships transported iron ore in the first year of export, and today more than 1,000 bulk carriers are loaded annually through three ship loaders in Port Hedland, transporting Pilbara iron ore to customers around the world. The annual supply volume is equivalent to filling approximately 30,000 Olympic-size swimming pools.
Cathy Charuga, Fortescue's director of integrated operations, said shipping more than 200 million tons of iron ore per year requires close coordination between the company's mining, refining, rail and port operations. She stressed the importance of cooperation across the entire supply chain in delivering products to customers.
