In the first three days of the new EU quota period from July 1 to September 30, some import quotas for some steel products allocated to Turkey, China, South Korea, India and "other countries" were exceeded, according to the European Commission.
In terms of quotas exceeded, Turkey exceeded its quotas by 160,573 tons for HRC (1A), 63,925 tons of sheets with metal-coated sheets (4A), 26,019 tons of metal-coated sheets (4B) and 11,568 tons of organic-coated sheets, with 328,353 tons, 105,040 tons, 35,105 tons and 12,537 tons of these products awaiting customs clearance, respectively. In addition, the country exceeded quotas for reinforcement - 59,919 tons, wire rod - 61,147 tons, gas pipes - 28,163 tons, hollow profiles - 59,849 tons, other welded pipes - 97,068 tons, 93,634 tons, 49,350 tons, 91,738 tons and 30,265 tons of these products are expected respectively in EU ports.
China exceeded its quotas by 11,837 tons for electrical steel, 45,749 tons for metal-coated sheets (4B) and 13,158 tons for other welded pipes, with 32,758 tons, 92,232 tons and 20,235 tons of these products awaiting customs clearance. South Korea has exceeded its quota of 41,828 tonnes for organic coated sheets, with 63,578 tonnes of the product waiting at EU ports, while India has used up its entire quota of 23,139 tonnes for stainless steel rods and light profiles and 10,036 tonnes for gas pipes, with 29,299 tonnes and 13,666 tonnes of these products are awaiting customs clearance.
Taking into account the quotas allocated for the “other countries” category, the quota is 5,564 tons for HRC (1A), 23,174 tons for metal-coated sheets (4B), while 9,138 tons and 28,291 tons of these products are awaiting at EU ports.
