Palestine and Peru will lead to changes in the Turkish rebar export markets in the first half of 2026

In June of this year, the volume of rebar exports from Turkey increased by 63.7% year-on-year and by 62.5% month-on-month to 479,674 metric tons, according to data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The volume of these exports amounted to $281.30 million, which is 77.9% more than in the same period last year and 66.1% more than in the previous month.

Between January and June, rebar exports from Turkey totaled 2.26 million tons, an increase of 12.8 percent, while the value of these exports increased by 14.7 percent to $1.28 billion year-on-year.

In the first half of 2025, Yemen, Romania, Albania, Syria and Kosovo were the main markets for the export of rebar from Turkey, while Yemen retained its leading position in the same period of 2026, although the market distribution has changed significantly. Exports to Yemen increased by 20 percent year-on-year to 441,390 tons, while exports to Palestine increased by 191.8 percent to 190,212 tons, making it the second largest destination. Exports to Peru increased by 360.7% to 146,155 tons, lifting the country to third place, while exports to Romania, the second largest market last year, decreased by 42.6% to 128,797 tons. Shipments to Albania, Serbia, and Kosovo also declined, while exports to markets such as Georgia and Egypt increased markedly. Overall, the 12.8 percent year-on-year increase in rebar exports from Turkey was driven by strong performance in markets such as Palestine, Peru, Georgia and Egypt, rather than the traditional Balkan markets.
