According to Statistics Canada, prices of goods produced in Canada, as measured by the Industrial Goods Price Index (IPPI), decreased by 1.4 percent month-on-month in June and increased by 12.4 percent year-on-year. The prices of raw materials purchased by producers operating in Canada, according to the Commodity Price Index (RMPI), decreased by 6.9% from May to June and increased by 20.7% year-on-year in June.
The consumer price index fell 1.4% month-on-month in June after five consecutive monthly increases from January to May.
The consumer price index rose by 12.4% year-on-year in June 2026, marking the 21st consecutive month of annual growth compared to the same period last year.
In June, the yuan business activity index decreased by 6.9% compared to the previous month, which was the largest monthly decline in the index since July 2022, mainly due to lower prices for crude energy (-13.7 percent) and metal ores, concentrates and scrap (-5.1 percent). Excluding crude energy, the business activity index in yuan decreased by 2.7 percent.
The Yuan business activity index rose 20.7 percent year-on-year in June, down from 33.4 percent year-on-year in May. Excluding crude energy, the yuan business activity index rose 18.6% year-on-year in June.
