Exports of wire rod from Brazil in July reached 34,300 metric tons (thousand tons) against 29,600 tons in June, according to the SECEX Foreign Trade secretariat of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
The increase was mainly due to a 141 percent increase in shipments to the United States.
The destinations were South America (19,700 tons at a price of $620 per ton), the United States (14,200 tons at a price of $710 per ton) and Canada (400 tons at a price of $783 per ton)., FOB terms.
The exporters were ArcelorMittal (33,500 tons) and Gerdau (800 tons).
Meanwhile, Brazil imported 28,300 tons of wire rod in July, up from 10,500 tons in June.
The sources of imports in June were Egypt (26,200 tons at $611 per ton), Germany (1,900 tons at $977 per ton) and China (200 tons at $533 per ton), also on FOB terms.
