According to preliminary data from the US Department of Commerce, imports of slabs to the United States in June this year amounted to 508,304 tons, which is 0.2 percent less than in the previous month and 10.4 percent more than in June 2025. In value terms, imports of slabs in June 2026 amounted to $307.5 million, compared with $296.5 million in May and $266.2 million in June 2025.
The United States imported the most slabs from Brazil in June - 200,364 tons compared to 237,589 tons in May and 353,730 tons in June 2025. The other largest sources of slab imports in June were Mexico (97,404 tons), Indonesia (52,580 tons) and Canada (48,028 tons).
