According to customs statistics released by the Japan Federation of Ferrous Metallurgy (JISF), in July this year, Japanese exports of pig iron and steel totaled 2.49 million metric tons, down 2.8 percent month-on-month and 5.3 percent year-on-year.
In the period from January to July of this year, Japanese exports of cast iron and steel products amounted to 16.70 million tons, which is 6.7% less than in the same period last year.
As for the main export markets of Japan's ferrous metallurgy, during the specified period, the country's exports to South Korea increased by 6.1% year-on-year to 2.40 million tons, while exports to Thailand decreased by 0.7% to 2.50 million tons. Meanwhile, Japan's exports to China decreased by 12.5% to 1.20 million tons, and its exports to Taiwan decreased by 21.5% to 931,652 tons, while exports to the United States increased by 15.7% to 760,050 tons year-on-year.
