Indonesian steelmaker PT Krakatau Steel has signed a long-term agreement with Australian distributor Australian Steel Traders Pty Ltd (ASTRADERS) to supply up to 30,000 mt of hot-rolled coil and/or sheet annually to Australia and New Zealand.
The agreement is intended to expand Krakatau Steel’s export markets and strengthen its relationship with ASTRADERS, which has distributed the Indonesian producer’s products in Australia for 25 years.
The parties may also agree on supplies of hot-rolled pickled and oiled (HRPO) products and cold-rolled coil (CRC). These products would be covered by separate arrangements.
The agreement provides for potential cooperation on product certification for the Australian and New Zealand markets. ASTRADERS may help Krakatau Steel obtain certifications, including those issued by the Australasian Certification Authority for Reinforcing and Structural Steels (ACRS) and Steel Sustainability Australia (SSA), subject to further agreement.
Krakatau Steel said product quality, competitive pricing, reliable supply and compliance with destination-market standards would remain key priorities as it expands exports.
