According to the latest statistics released by the World Steel Association, steel production from the 65 member countries was 136.819 million tonnes in July this year, up 1.7 percent from production in the same month of the previous year.
The total crude steel production of the EU-28 countries during July this year was 13.306 million tonnes, down 2.0 percent from the 13.573 million tonnes in July 2013. Other European countries smelted 2.995 million tonnes of steel, up 2.4 percent from the July 2013 production of 2.924 million tonnes.
CIS steel production rose 2.3 percent to 9.248 million tons, up from 9.041 million tons in July last year. Total crude steel production in North America in July this year was up 2.0 percent from 10.223 million tonnes in July 2013 to 10.431 million tonnes.
Total crude steel production in South America in July this year rose 1.1 percent to 4.014 million tonnes. African countries produced 1.504 million tonnes of steel, up 21.2 percent from the July 2013 production of 1.241 million tonnes.
Crude steel production in the Middle East reached 2.390 million tonnes in July this year, up 8.3 percent from 2.207 million in July 2013. tons. Asian steel production rose 1.7 percent to 92.417 million tons, up from 90.869 million tons in July last year. Oceania's total crude steel production rose 7 percent to 0.514 million tonnes in July this year, up from 0.480 million tonnes in July 2013.
