India's largest gold refiner MMTC-PAMP expects to see a 78 percent increase in gold refining in 2015. The company intends to increase its gold processing volume to 80 tons during the 2014-2015 financial year. The company announced an updated production volume of 45 tons of gold for 2013-2014.
Sourcing for raw materials has been a major problem so far, according to the company. However, the situation quickly changed after the processor received international accreditation from the London Bullion Market Association (LMBA). Global miners have begun to show increased interest in supplying gold to the company. MMTC aims to achieve 100 percent capacity utilization, increasing its annual gold processing capacity to 150 tons.
In addition, the company also plans to process 100 tonnes of silver in fiscal 2015. This is four times the amount of silver reported by MMTC in the 2013/14 fiscal year, when the company produced 25 tonnes. It aims to achieve 75 percent capacity utilization next year.
MMTC-PAMP India is a joint venture between PAMP SA Switzerland and MMTC Ltd and the only gold refiner in India to receive LMBA accreditation.
