Major US steel companies including Nucor, Arcelor Mittal and SSAB have announced higher prices for steel plates.
The price increase was initiated by Nucor, which made a statement on this matter. The company announced its decision to raise prices for carbon and alloy steels by $ 30 per tonne. In addition, Nucor has raised prices for heat treated wafers by $ 40 per tonne. The price change was approved with immediate effect, as stated in the report.
Following Nucor's announcement, other steelmakers, including Arcelor Mittal and SSAB, followed suit by announcing price increases for steel plates. In letters to customers, Arcelor Mittal announced that prices for carbon plate will be increased by $ 30 per tonne. In addition, prices for heat-treated wafers are increased by $ 40 per ton. The letter says that these measures are necessary to maintain a fair price for these products.
Meanwhile, SSAB also raised plate and hot rolled coil prices by $ 30 /t. Hardened steel prices also increased by $ 40 per tonne. At the same time, industry sources believe that buyers will accept the rise in prices this time with understanding and keep the business relationship at the same level.
