The Chinese company Baosteel has signed a contract for the supply of heavy plate with Offshore Oil Engineering Company Limited. According to the agreement, Baosteel will have to supply 120 thousand tons of heavy plate for the Yamal project, carried out by the Offshore Oil Engineering Company. Baosteel will supply steel products for the North Pole projects for the first time.
The Yamal Project is believed to be the largest natural liquefied gas export base in Russia, which is the largest LNG project in the world. Offshore Oil Engineering was awarded contracts for the main processes of the modular part of the project. All modules will be completed in Qingdao.
The steel is planned to be supplied by Bao-Mit Steel, a division of Shanghai Baosteel International Economic & Trading, which defeated other global heavy plate suppliers and won the contract. Shanghai Baosteel International Economic and Trade Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Baosteel.
Bao-Mit Steel has three world-class steel lines and a theoretical production capacity of 137 thousand tons. It is engaged in the processing of metal products, as well as the distribution and trading of metal products, and mainly targets significant customers in Shandong.
