In Russia, the volume of exports of metals increased by 7.5 percent

According to the Goskomstat of Russia for the first seven months of 2014, the volume of exports of ferrous metals in Russia increased by 7.5 percent to 22.861 million tons. In monetary terms, the total amount of exports amounted to $ 12.1 billion, which is 4 percent more compared to the same period last year.

At the same time, exports of pig iron increased by 20.5 percent to 2.49 million tons, while exports of sheet steel increased by 9.6 percent to 4,640,000 tons. In the period from January to July of this year, Russian exports of ferrous metals to non-CIS countries increased by 9.4 percent and reached 19.6 million tons, which in monetary terms amounts to a total amount of $ 10.1 billion. Russian exports to the CIS countries fell 3 percent YoY to 3.27 million tonnes, generating $ 19.9 billion.

In the first seven months of this year, imports of ferrous metals to Russia decreased by 5 percent and amounted to 3.6 million tons for a total of $ 3240 million, which in monetary terms is 6.3 percent lower than last year.
