According to the results of the first eight months of this year, the domestic metallurgical industry showed an increase in key indicators. During this period, steel production amounted to 47.2 million tons, which is 2.3% more than last year. Pig iron production amounted to 33.8 million tons, which gives an increase of 0.9% against the background of 2013. Against the background of July this year, the increase in production for these types of metal amounted to 0.6% and 1.3%.
The production volumes of rolled metal of various grades also increased. For eight months, 40.8 million tons of products were produced, which gives an increase against the background of the same period last year by 3.3%. The indicators for this year were even higher in the segment of production of pipes of various diameters. Russian enterprises in 2014 produced 7.2 million tons of this product, which is 5.7% more than in 2013. At the same time, according to the results of August, a 2.3% decrease in production volumes was noted against the background of the previous calendar month.
Statistics also show that for all the above-mentioned types of products, the indicators of August 2014 significantly exceed the figures of August 2013, indicating an increase in the range from 3.1% (cast iron) to 15% (pipes).
Experts note that Western sanctions have not yet directly affected the metallurgical industry, therefore, their negative consequences should not affect metallurgists in the short term, which makes it possible to count on maintaining growth rates against the background of last year's production indicators.
