According to the latest trade statistics released by Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Trade (MDic), the country's ferroalloy exports declined sharply during September 2014.
Exports from that country fell 25.9 percent to 26,109 tons, compared with 35,238 tons in September last year. However, September sales were up 40.6 percent year on year to $ 241 million FOB, up from $ 171.4 million FOB in the same month last year. Exports of ferroalloys from the country increased by 15 percent compared to the previous month. Sales showed an increase of 21 percent over August.
The largest destination for ferroalloy exports from Brazil was the Netherlands. Exports to this country reached 4.420 million tons, which is almost one fifth of the total Brazilian exports. Ferroalloys imports to the Netherlands from Brazil fell 21 percent from 5.596 million tonnes of imports in September last year. Imports also fell 18 percent from the previous month.
China was the second largest buyer of Brazilian ferroalloys. However, in September 2014, imports fell 73 percent from 16.107 million tonnes of imports in the same month last year to 4.405 million tonnes. However, Chinese imports rose 238 percent from 1.302 million tonnes in August this year.
