ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih steel production fell in the first 9 months

According to the company, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, a subsidiary of steel giant ArcelorMittal in Ukraine, announces that its crude steel production was 4,710,000 tons between January and September, down 1 percent year on year.

During this period, the production of finished rolled products of the company amounted to 4,140,000 tons, a decrease of 0.7 percent. At the same time, the output of pig iron amounted to 4,190,000 tons, an increase of 0.5 percent, compared with the results in the same period a year earlier.
In September alone, the company's steel production amounted to 594,200 tons, the production of rolled products reached

511,900 tons, and the output of pig iron was 524,500 tons. According to the results of the production of the Kryvyi Rih Mining and Metallurgical Combine, September became the most productive month not only for the past 9 months of 2014, but also for the entire period since 2008. In September this year, the level of steel production increased by 11.3 percent compared to September 2013. Pig iron output also increased by more than 11.5 percent year-on-year. Production of finished goods increased by 7.5 percent compared to September 2013.

The high results in September are explained by the completion of the planned repairs of converter No. 1. In addition, after the modernization, lime kilns, sintering machines and a car dumper were put into operation. This affected the production results for the third quarter as well. During the 3rd quarter, 1,685,000 tons of steel and 1,500,000 tons of pig iron were smelted.
