The president of the state-owned steel company Baosteel, China's largest, said during the Europe-China Forum Hamburg that anti-dumping research in Europe against Chinese exports is unfair and unfounded.
In addition, he clarified that the reason for the decline in prices for export goods from China is the use of innovations in Chinese production technology. He added that it is unfair to consider Chinese exports as a source of dumping of cheap steel products and to encourage the spread of this opinion.
Stainless steel products, which are produced in China for export to Europe and other regions of the world, are made using imported nickel raw materials from the Indian laterite deposit, which is processed using sophisticated technology, allowing to reduce the cost of production, which in turn affects the cost of the goods, which goes for export to Europe.
He also stated that technological progress is not limited only to the use of raw materials and is valid at all stages of production, and the price is only the result of free competition that is established in the market.
The Baosteel president also added that “if Europe encourages this kind of research in the fight against dumping and then puts anti-dumping tariffs on exports from China on the agenda, it means that the period of free trade has come to an end, and soon we will return to the previous period, which was much worse.
