JNARDDC launches production of super conductors from aluminum and building materials from red mud

On the basis of the complex studies of the Jawaharlal Nehru Design Center and the Center for the Development of Metal Technology in Hyderabad, a new technology for producing an aluminum alloy has been developed, which is capable of increasing the power transmission power of high-voltage tension wires. The research team decided to test the use of the alloy at a pilot plant scale before launching it on the market.

The alloy is now called Super Thermal Aluminum Conductor. Even now, when many countries, mostly Western, have the same technology as developed in India, technology identifiers are too expensive, so the import of this kind of technology will significantly increase the cost of production.

Another innovative idea that the team is developing is the disposal and use of red mud. The fact is that the disposal of this hazardous substance has been a headache in the aluminum industry around the world for many years, since a large amount of red mud is formed annually during the production process. And for this problem, the Indian research group most likely found a solution.

Red mud, according to the team's research, can be used as a building material. The team has already developed two types of bricks from this aluminum waste. The range of products includes hard bricks as well as foam bricks, but ceramic tiles obtained from sludge are especially diverse. All of these products have been scientifically proven to be free of the hazardous properties of red mud and can also be processed.
