Until now, not a single European president at the official level is ready to call what is happening in the East of Ukraine by their proper names. Obama and American officials still fear that these definitions could provoke a world war, since then NATO military forces will have to go to war.
Refusing to openly participate in the conflict in eastern Ukraine, the West and Russia maintain the illusion that the war is a spontaneous civil confrontation, but in fact they are waging a war with someone else's hands. And it makes perfect sense to think that a new Cold War has already begun.
According to Ukrainian data, at least 65% of residential buildings and 10% of schools and kindergartens in Donbass have already been destroyed. More than 40,000 mid-sized companies are paralyzed. Unemployment in Ukraine is over 40 percent. External debt can reach more than $ 80 billion. Kiev cannot pay its billions in gas bills from Gazprom because it is spending a fortune waging an undeclared war that paralyzed the entire industry of Donbass and killed Ukrainian citizens. In all this, the US, EU and Russia are fully complicit in this.
The immediate goal of this confrontation is to undermine the Russian economy, and in the long term - to change the regime. And Ukraine has become a field of this confrontation, and it has to resolve other people's issues, sending its citizens to war in order to preserve its statehood and territory.
Economically, Donbass is no longer interesting to anyone, and it is even difficult to imagine how it will be able to survive in new formations. Since the cost of high-quality coal could be profitable for sale only in Ukraine itself. In Russia, coal is cheaper and it is not profitable for it to buy it, which means it will be stored in warehouses, while Ukrainian power plants need it very much. The metallurgical plants of the unrecognized republics will not be able to export their products, which means that the workers will simply have nothing to live on, given that from December 1, Ukraine will stop all social payments in the uncontrolled territories.
