According to the latest statistics published by the World Steel Association from 65 countries of the world, steel output was 136.738 million tons in October this year. The production of these 65 countries accounted for approximately 98 percent of the world's total crude steel output in 2013, the Association said.
The top ten world leaders in terms of total crude steel production during October 2014 include:
1.China 67,516 thousand tons
2. Japan 9362 thousand tons
3. USA 7310 thousand tons
4. India 7080 thousand tons
5.South Korea 6166 thousand tons
6.Russia 5840 thousand tons
7.Germany 3,544 thousand tons
8. Brazil 3052 thousand tons
9.Turkey 2715 thousand tons
10.Italy 2100 thousand tons
At the same time, steel production in China in October slightly decreased (-0.3 percent) compared to the production of October 2013. Japan also reported a slight decrease in the average monthly steel volume in October. India has produced an 8.5 percent increase over October 2013. South Korea's steel output rose significantly (+ 4.5 percent) in October this year compared to October 2013.
Russia increased steel production in October this year by 1.6 percent compared to the same month in 2013. Germany during October significantly reduced steel production (-5.9 percent) compared to the same month in 2013. In Brazil, steel production rose 2.7 percent over the same period last year.
