Metinvest develops production of galvanized steel

Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol began production of S350GD galvanized steel. This product is used for the production of building structures, and in Ukraine it is produced for the first time.

The cold rolling shop of the Mariupol combine produced a trial batch of 1.5 mm thick high-strength galvanized coiled steel S350GD in accordance with the European standard EN 10346. The production of galvanized steel grade S320GD was launched several months ago.

Now Metinvest will be able to provide a wide range of galvanized products, which are in demand for the production of roll-formed sections for the manufacture of light steel thin-walled structures and beams in the CIS in the Middle East and Europe.

All rolling mode technologists have been developed specifically for the production of steel grades S320GD and S350GD, the mechanical properties of which meet the requirements of EN 10346. This galvanized steel has improved strength parameters. This provides the steel structure with lower manufacturing costs and adequate lifting capacity.

Galvanized steel grades S320GD and S350GD can be produced from 0.75 mm to 1.5 mm in thickness, from 950 mm to 1250 mm (trimmed edges) in width and are supplied in rolls of 8 tons with an inner diameter of 600 ± 20 mm.

The new type of galvanized steel from Ilyich's plant is planned to be supplied both to the domestic market of Ukraine, where previously only imported products were available abroad. The first batch of S350GD material was shipped to consumers in the CIS countries. Metinvest's new products continue to expand its assortment and will help foreign and domestic clients to improve their competitiveness.
