Import of stainless steel increased in Russia

In 2014, the volume of imports of stainless steel flat products in Russia, compared to 2013, increased by 5.3 percent and reached 190,419 tons, which became a new record for the country. At the same time, the costs of importers decreased by 1.6 percent to $ 455.7 million.

According to the Association Spetsstal, Russian imports of stainless steel products also increased in December last year. The rise was 2 percent for the month. While imports of stainless flat products declined 3.6 percent in December and imports of stainless steel bars declined 23.4 percent, imports of stainless steel plates fell 82.6 percent month-on-month.

However, during December 2014, Russian imports of stainless steel seamless pipes increased 127.9 percent, imports of ERW stainless steel welded pipes climbed 37.7 percent, and imports of connecting fittings increased 46.6 percent, all over the previous year. a month has passed a year.

According to the analysis of customs statistics for 2014, imports of flat products with a width of over 600 mm increased by 19.2 percent, and rolled products with a width of up to 600 mm decreased by 15.1 percent. At the same time, imports of hot-rolled steel increased by 16.1 percent, while purchases of cold-rolled steel increased by 2.9 percent.
