EVRAZ ZSMK has produced 4,500 tons of 25 and 12 meter R50-N rails, which will be shipped to Cuba under a contract with Empresa Proveedora General del Transporte (transport procurement company) (TradeX). The rails will be used to modernize the existing railways in accordance with the program proposed by the Cuban government.
EVRAZ signed a contract with TradeX in December 2014, and in February 2015 the client visited Novokuznetsk to inspect the production process at EVRAZ ZSMK and assess the quality of the new rails.
Deputy Director of Cuban Railway Infrastructure Ladisven Morales said that “We are impressed by what we saw at EVRAZ ZSMK. In addition, the Russian company has extensive experience in the production of high-tech railway lines. We hope that our cooperation with EVRAZ has high potential for future projects. "
Ilya Shirokobrod, EVRAZ Vice President for Sales, said that “We are pleased to establish cooperation with our distinguished Cuban colleague. Cuba has a high potential for developing its rail network as its government is already moving towards modernizing its existing infrastructure. EVRAZ rails have already proven their reliability in hot and humid climates. We believe that our partner will be completely satisfied with the quality of our rails. "
