Employees of the Metinvest Group of Avdeevka Coke Plant assisted employees of the DTEK energy holding in reconnecting the plant to the high-voltage bushings of Makeevka-Avdeevka Coke Plant 1 and Makeevka-Avdeevka Coke Plant 2.
Avdiivka Coke Plant lost the ability to supply electricity back on January 24, when all four incoming high-voltage lines of the enterprise were damaged as a result of the armed conflict. The main equipment of the Avdiivka Coke Plant was quickly switched to backup power from coke oven gas generators. However, their capacity is not sufficient to support a normal production process.
Now, with the restoration of power, the capacity utilization of the coke oven battery can be increased and sustainable coke production achieved. We also managed to restart the work of the coal plant and the coal preparation shop. At the same time, the enterprise remains in a difficult situation with the supply of raw materials due to the disrupted railway connection.
Employees of the power engineering department of the Avdeevka Coke Plant and DTEK also managed to restore power to Avdeevka. The plant's employees repaired the city's main heating main, which was destroyed during the shelling. Utilities workers were able to quickly provide households with heat. Their work was hampered by the shelling.
In addition, when shell fragments exploded near the Avdiivka Coke Plant on March 1, the gas pipeline was damaged. The plant employees managed to cope with the consequences of the shelling within a short time. The Avdiivka Coke Plant has been constantly under fire since July 2014. More than 120 shells were reportedly detonated at the plant.
