ArcelorMittal delivered steel products manufactured at the ArcelorMittal plant in Poland in Swietochlowice for the construction of a shopping center in Egypt near Cairo. In addition, a technical design team in Poland provides technical support for the client. The deliveries were made in close cooperation with the construction team. The main deliveries of steel products took place in November - December last year.
A shopping center in Egypt is under construction on two floors on an area of 160,000 m² outside Cairo, along the Al Wahat Highway. The center will provide direct access from the highway to the parking lot for 6,500 cars. The project of the shopping and entertainment complex should open in the first quarter of 2016. It will include 400 retail stores providing international fashion, styles and brands, as well as cinemas, a ski slope park, restaurants and cafes.
Construction began in 2013 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2015. The construction project will cost $ 800 million and is operated by the UAE holding company, Majid Al Futtaim Group, based in Dubai, which owns and operates shopping centers in the Middle East and North Africa. The construction has provided 9,000 jobs and 7,000 people will be employed when the center opens.
The mall has been designed to meet modern design requirements and is also a benchmark in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for the construction, operation and maintenance of green buildings and homes.
