In the first six months of 2015, the Vyksa Steel Works (AO VMZ), part of the United Metallurgical Company (AO OMK), Moscow, produced over 1.1 million tonnes of pipes, significantly increasing production. The growth in pipe production was 36 percent compared to the results obtained in the first half of last year. At the same time, there was a 40% decrease in the production of wheels to 142 thousand units compared to the results for the first half of 2014.
“Thanks to OMK's investments in the development of VMZ, the company's capabilities for the production of pipe products are growing. In the first half of the year, we supplied pipes to OMK's strategic partners - the largest domestic oil and gas companies, in particular, for such projects as Bovanenkovo-Ukhta, Power of Siberia, Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean, Southern Corridor and others , - commented Alexander Barykov, Managing Director of VSW JSC. “The decrease in wheel output is due to an increase in the volume of dumping supplies from Ukrainian manufacturers against the background of a decrease in the consumption of railway wheels in Russia.”
