According to the latest data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the United States cut crude steel production by nearly 10 percent year on year to 1,742,000 tonnes in the week ended Aug.22, and a capacity utilization rate of 72.9 percent.
According to AISI, production for the week ended August 22, 2014 was 1,930,000 tons, while utilization was then 80.2 percent. Production for the week ended August 22, 2015 was down 1.5 percent from the previous week, when production was 1,768,000 and capacity utilization was 73.9 percent.
Adjusted production for the year to 22 August 2015 was 57,513,000 tonnes and utilization of functionality was 72.6 percent, down 7.8 percent from 62,408,000 tonnes in the same period last year when capacity utilization was 78 , 0 percent.
