French company Fives signs a 10-year contract with Baotou Steel

The deal includes the provision of technical support for the development and production of a wide range of high value-added automotive steels, including the latest advanced high-strength steels, throughout the entire manufacturing process.

Fives will provide a high-end manufacturing process covering the manufacturing process from start to finish: steelmaking, hot rolling, pickling, cold rolling, annealing and galvanizing. The cooperation agreement includes extensive training, high-level technical support, development and certification of new high-performance steels for automotive products.

The 10-year contract was signed between the Fives Group and the Inner Mongolian Union of Companies Baotou Steel, the largest iron and steel producer in Northwest China. The previous contract between the two companies includes hot-dip galvanizing lines and vertical Stein Digiflex furnaces for two continuous annealing lines with an Advan Tek combustion system and special cooling technology.

These contracts will provide Fives Group with the opportunity to become a solution provider for years to come for an enterprising partner Baotou Steel, which is pursuing an ambitious expansion program in the high-end automotive market.
