The regional state administration (RSA) of Dnepropetrovsk reported that in September 2015, metallurgists in the region increased the production of pig iron by almost 15 percent, steel - by almost 18 percent, rolled products - by 4.6 percent, pipes - by 4.3 percent. The miners exceeded last year's coke production by 7 percent.
The total industrial production in the Dnipropetrovsk region for eight months increased by 0.7 percent. And the production of metallurgical products exceeded last year's indicators by 7.5 percent. The Dzerzhinsky Iron and Steel Works became the engine of growth.
It is interesting that just yesterday the Dnepropetrovsk plant "Interpipe Steel" of the Ukrainian billionaire Viktor Pinchuk reported on a sharp drop in steel production due to interruptions in the supply of scrap metal. The electric steelmaking complex smelted only 47 thousand tons of steel in September against 62 thousand tons in August. At the same time, the annual drop in smelting exceeded 35 percent in eight months.
In the Dnieper Regional State Administration, the two-fold reduction in the production of pipe metal products was explained by the "closure of sales markets", but said that today the situation is stabilizing.
